Reflection AI Will Pay Nvidia $150 Million a Month for Chips

Here is the AI build-out in one number. Reflection AI has agreed to pay 150 million dollars a month, starting July 1 and running through 2029, for immediate access to Nvidia's newest GB300 chips and supporting hardware at SpaceX's Colossus 2 data center. That is roughly 6 billion dollars committed for compute by one company.

This is what the compute land-grab looks like up close. The most valuable thing in AI right now is not a model, it is guaranteed access to the latest Nvidia chips, and companies are signing multi-year deals to lock it in. Reflection AI, a frontier lab, is paying a fixed monthly fee for years just to be first in line for GB300 capacity. Demand is so far ahead of supply that this is the going rate.

The deal routes through SpaceX. Colossus 2 is the supercomputer site tied to Elon Musk's xAI, and Reflection is effectively renting a slice of that infrastructure rather than building its own. The GB300 is Nvidia's latest AI accelerator, and getting it immediately, instead of waiting in a queue, is worth a premium. A 150-million-a-month commitment through 2029 is the price of jumping the line.

Deals like this are why Nvidia keeps printing money. Every one of these contracts starts with a Nvidia order, and the company captures the vast majority of AI accelerator spending. It also shows how the infrastructure is getting financialized, with compute sold on long-term contracts like power or real estate. For SpaceX, monetizing Colossus 2 capacity turns a cost center into a revenue stream.

The risk is the same as the whole AI trade, just concentrated. Reflection is betting 6 billion dollars that its models will generate enough value to justify the compute, before it has proven they will. If AI demand keeps compounding, locking in chips early is smart. If it cools, these fixed monthly payments become a heavy weight with no easy exit. The contracts are long. The certainty is not.

So one frontier lab just committed 150 million dollars a month to rent Nvidia chips through 2029. The number tells you how scarce compute is and how aggressively labs will pay to secure it. Nvidia wins either way. Whether Reflection does depends on what it builds with all that hardware.
