The Department of War announced agreements with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI, SpaceX, Reflection and Oracle to deploy their AI on classified Impact Level 6 and 7 networks. The systems will handle data synthesis, situational analysis and warfighter decision support. Notably absent: Anthropic. The Pentagon designated the company a supply chain risk earlier this year, which kept Claude's parent off the list while every other major US lab walked through the door.
Government AI procurement just became a much harder gate to pass. Worth watching what gets defined as 'supply chain risk' next.
